The Light Blox is unveiled
Today we experimented with the new lasers and lenses .
We tried three different activities:
First we did follow the beam where we tested have a light travels in a straight lines. Here we lined up index cards to see how one would travel from one to the next and spread out over distance.
The second activity we did worked with reflection and how light will bounce off the wall and off the mirror.
The third experiment was with Refraction and how the shape of a lens impacts how light bends . Here we tried concave , convex and trapezoid lenses .

Movement - 3rd graders get busy !!!
3rd graders work on Movement -
Straight , side to side , round and round , back and forth - we tested this with speed and different heights affecting the
Distance .
Students lead Reflection time.
At the end of each class , we reflect on what didn't work that day and a Bright Spot for their work. Usually this is lead by the teacher , in order to keep the higher level questions flowing , however this past Friday a 4th grader started the reflection on his own . This was a very proud teacher moment . Proud Pirate Student Leaders !

I am so excited for this . These two young men saw a video on the CLS website and said ," Look Mrs. Adams we can make that for our wall too !" They are working so hard to finish .
It will say STEM when they are finished which is what we focus on , Science , Technology , Engineering , and Math .
